About

Being a Broadway enthusiast outside of New York City is hard. Let’s face it: you’re stuck hearing rave reviews from critics about the newest shows, watching the same YouTube trailers and behind-the-scenes videos on repeat, and learning every song from every cast album by heart without ever seeing the show live.

But just like you, I make do with what I have.

My name is Danielle Eyer, and this blog serves a couple of purposes:

  1. I plan on writing reviews for both musicals and plays in the Montreal-Ottawa-Toronto region of Canada, as I am an expert cheap theatre ticket hunter who sees nearly every show she can. I like voicing my opinions, and I like theatre. I can name the composer of every musical you throw at me and tell you the history of musical theatre from Gilbert and Sullivan to Lin-Manuel Miranda. I know what I’m talking about. I’ve seen far too many shows to count.
  2. Cast albums are important to every musical theatre kid, but they’re especially important if you don’t live in New York. I want to review cast albums as stand-alone albums, as that’s how the majority of us will experience some of our favourite musicals.
  3. All other posts will be about events or personal thoughts/opinions/analyses of other theatre-related topics, about everything from bootlegs to Broadway actors.

I created this blog because this is the sort of blog I’ve always wanted to follow. I want to discuss theatre as I see it, from outside NYC, from the godsend of the Internet. I hope you can join the discussion, too.

  1. Nice to find you on the WordPress.com community! I also write about musicals, so you might wanna have a look. I post every day, so it might be a little difficult to catch up with every post, but be sure to look around and see if anything interests you!
